Saturday's meeting with the Braves is the first meeting all-time between the two schools. In addition, FIU's game with Alcorn marks the Panthers' first-ever meeting with a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The Braves would have been one of two teams on this season's schedule to face FIU for the first time, along with Tulane on Oct. 14 (7 p.m.) at Riccardo Silva Stadium.
With the game being moved to Birmingham, the Panthers will now play four-straight contests away from Riccardo Silva Stadium to start the 2017 season. Following this weekend, FIU will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, Sept. 16 (3:30 p.m. ET) and then to Houston, Texas for its Conference USA opener against Rice on Saturday, Sept. 23 (7:30 p.m. ET). The Panthers return home on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. when they take on Charlotte.
