COLUMBIA, Missouri (Oct. 1, 2018) – Looking to build off early momentum in the season, the FIU women's golf team posted an impressive day at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Monday.
FIU capped the opening round with a score of 287, to close out Monday in sole possession of third place.
Carolina Andrade paced the Panthers by firing a 4-under par 68 and sits in second. The Bogota, Colombia native, totaled five birdies over her opening 18-holes and sits two strokes behind Mizzou's Emma Allen for the individual lead. Joining Andrade in the Top-5, Valentina Gilly is tied for fourth heading into Tuesday after carding a 70. Gilly's opening round is her third-straight round under par.
Agueda Cortilla shot a 74 to join Andrade and Gilly in the Top 25 by placing in a tie for 25th position.
Sophomore Gabriela Powel is tied for 30th after turning in an opening round scorecard of 75.
Rounding out the FIU scorecard, Ana Rengifo shot a 78 to enter Tuesday in a tie for 56th overall.
Host Mizzou holds a four shot lead over the field entering Tuesday's second round.
