Sherilene Gelderblom's Third Team All-CUSA Honors for FIU highlighted the 2018 Conference USA Championships Saturday morning at Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park.

Gelderblom placed 18
th, running a 17:56.89, leading the Panther women to a 6
th place finish among thirteen teams.
Â
Brittany Watson followed behind, with a PR of 18:08.91 that puts her at 10
th on the all time FIU Cross Country 5K list. Â

Anais Da Silva was the third runner from FIU in the top twenty-five, edging out a pair of runners from Rice with an 18:20.95.

Jessica Gray and Rahel Gebretsadik completed the scoring for the Panthers, who improved two spots from their eighth place finish at last season's conference meet.

The men, who raced following the 8:30 women's race, were led for the second consecutive meet by freshman
Eliseo Torres who completed the race in 26:46.27, a 25 second PR.
Daniel Areces scored second for FIU with a 27:21.65, his second fastest time of the season.
Jorge Areces,
David Suarez, and Christian Alexander completed the scoring for the Panthers, who placed eleventh.

The race marks back to back seasons Gelderblom has now garnered All-CUSA honors. The team now prepares for the NCAA South Regional, to take place in Tallahassee on November 9
th.
