TAMPA, Fla. — FIU's track and field program continued its outdoor season this weekend at the USF Invitational.
Michaelle Valentin produced another record-breaking performance on Saturday with her discus throw of 62.17 meters. Valentin took first place in the discus by a wide margin and, in the process, set a new school and Haitian national record. Her throw is currently 4th-best in the NCAA and in the top-25 among all athletes in the world. She also had a personal-best in the shot put with a 14 meter toss, finishing sixth.
Teammate Janiya Cesar notched a second place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.05 meters. Amaya Bien-Aime and Danielle McGonigle went three-four in the high jump, each clearing the same mark of 1.65 meters. Lorena Enamorado produced a personal-best time of 2:13.79 in the 800 meters.
On the men's side, Isaiah Tavo's throw of 52.90 meters in the discus secured him a third place finish. On the track, Raynell Chambers placed fifth in the 400 meter final with a time of 47.10 seconds.
