MIAMI– FIU men's track & field athlete Ethan Riley has been named a recipient of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship, as announced by Conference USA on Friday afternoon.

Riley holds a 4.0 GPA in his pursuit of a Master of Science degree in kinesiology and exercise science, which he is expected to earn in December. Riley recently set a personal best in the shot put at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships.

This year marks the 18th edition of the award named in honor of Dr. Jim Castañeda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach, and Faculty Athletics Representative before his passing in 2008.

Each year, Conference USA awards $4,000 scholarships to outstanding graduate student-athletes, as selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the CUSA Board of Directors.
