@FIUVolleyball Drops Tough 3-2 Decision at WKU

The Basics
- The FIU volleyball team looked to get back on the winning track, on Friday night, when it faced Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, however the Hilltoppers were able to pull out a tough 3-2 decision over the Panthers at E.A. Diddle Arena. FIU, whose losing streak moves to four matches, drops to 14-11 on the year and 6-5 in Conference USA, while WKU improves to 17-9 and 8-3 in C-USA.
 
- With the match tied at one set apiece, the Hilltoppers took the third set in decisive fashion, 25-14, using a .333 hitting percentage compared to a -.125 percentage by the Panthers. In that third stanza, FIU recorded a match-high 11 errors while WKU had just three. The Panthers would take the fourth set, 25-20, however the Hilltoppers closed out the five-set affair, 15-11.   
 
- Nina Petranovic (Polzela, Slovenia) recorded one of the Panthers' two double-doubles on the night with 18 kills and 14 digs. Abbie Hughes (Mason, Ohio) also logged a double-double with 42 assists and 10 digs. Margherita Bianchin (Venice, Italy) had 14 kills, and Lina Bernier (San Juan, Puerto Rico) had 14 dogs in the loss.
 
- FIU finished the night with just a .127 hitting percentage, while WKU hit at a .250 percent clip.

Up Next
FIU travels to Huntington, West Virginia,  to butt heads with Marshall on Nov. 4, at 1 p.m., before returning home to face Middle Tennessee on Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. to start the final regular season weekend of the season.
