PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (Nov. 21, 2018) – After an impressive season on the gridiron, FIU head football coach Butch Davis has been named to the 2018 George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year semifinalist, the organization announced on Wednesday.
 
Davis, who has elevated FIU to a conference title contender, has led the Panthers to back-to-back seasons of eight wins during his two-year tenure. If the Panthers should win on Saturday against Marshall, the team will break the record for most wins in a season and clinch the program's first C-USA East Division crown.
 
Davis is one of 18 coaches selected, joining the likes of Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney and Jim Harbaugh to name a few. Davis is just one of two C-USA coaches to make the list, joining UAB's Bill Clark. Davis is also one of only two coaches from the state of Florida to be recognized, with UCF's Josh Heupel being the other.  
 
The list, presented by the Maxwell Football Club, includes at field of 18 candidates who have been selected by a national selection committee. Voting for the award will begin on Monday, Nov. 26 and close on Monday, Dec. 10. The finalist round will include the top three coaches as selected, with final voting opening on Dec. 11 and running through Dec. 27. The winner will be announced on Dec. 28.
 
The formal presentation of the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award will take place at the Maxwell Football Club's National Awards gala on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Tropicana Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
