MIAMI (Sept. 28, 2018) - The FIU women's swim and dive team will travel to Coral Gables for its season opener against the University of Miami (Fla.) on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. ET.
The meet marks the third year in a row that the Panthers have opened up their season against the Hurricanes. Last season, the Panthers took first-place in nine of the 16 events and they opened the season with a lopsided 164.5-115.5 victory over Miami.
With a month of practice in the books. The Panthers are excited to get the season going.
"What we are looking forward to are great races, being competitive, taking the things we have done in practice and putting them to work in the pool during competition and seeing where we are at," Head Coach
Randy Horner said.
The Panthers closed out the 2017-2018 season 8-4 overall with a C-USA Championship title. The four-time C-USA champions are on the quest for number five and their consistent strategy is what will get them there.
"It is all about staying with what works. Our culture, the team, what we have established and the way we do things day in and day out. As long as those things stay as our principals, the winning is an end result of all their hard work and doing things the right way," Horner said.
The Panthers are back at Biscayne Bay for the FIU Invitational, where they will host FAU, FGCU, TCU, Geroge Washington, Army, Old Dominion and IWU. The meet is presented by TYR, Swiss Timing and Rice House of Kobaob. Action begins Oct. 5-6.
