MIAMI (Jan. 11, 2019) – Panthers swim and dive officially open the spring season when they host Central Connecticut State at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center on Saturday, Jan. 12.
Coming off of a 759.5 point victory at the 2019 Sprint Invite on Jan. 5, the Panthers welcome the more challenging half of their schedule.
"Everyone we go up against at this point, is going to be zeroing in on race strategies and leading up to things that we want to do to get us ready for the end of February," head coach
Randy Horner said.
After wrapping up the their winter training program on a high note, the four-peat Conference USA Champions are hopeful that they will defend their title for a fifth-straight year, but with the territory comes increased competition.
"We won't be happy with anything but winning. That has got to be the mindset from day one. You got to stay hungry. We talked about there being no guarantee. There is nothing given to you just because you win four in a row," said Horner.
Following the meet with Central Connecticut State, FIU will host Florida Gulf Coast at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center on Jan. 26, with action beginning at 11 a.m.
