QUICK HITS
- Devon Andrews is one of FIU's hottest players, leading the team in scoring in the last three games, averaging 21 points-per-game during the stretch ... He has also scored 20-plus points in three of the last seven games.

- FIU comes into the Southern Miss game after a tough 89-72 loss to Florida Atlantic on Jan. 26, at home ... Devon Andrews led the Panthers in scoring for the third-straight game with 21 points.

- Through Jan 29, Brian Beard, Jr. leads NCAA Division I in total steals (67) and is second in steals-per-game (3.2) ... Osasumwen Osaghae is eighth in blocked shots-per-game (2.8) ... FIU is also fifth in scoring (87.0).

LAST TIME OUT
- FIU took the floor on Jan. 26, at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, in front of the largest crowd to ever see a Panthers' home basketball game, 4,710, but the blue and gold were unable to send the faithful home happy as Florida Atlantic handed FIU an 89-72 loss.

- Devon Andrews paced the way for the Panthers with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range, and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line ... He also had seven rebounds ... Brian Beard, Jr. added 16 points and Isaiah Banks chipped in with 10 points in the loss ... Osasumwen Osaghae grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, and had three blocks, to go along with nine points.

- FAU used an 18-3 run, to start the second half, extending a one-point halftime lead to 16 points and opening the game up ... The Panthers tried to put together a come-from-behind win for the 11th time this season, cutting the lead to five points on an Andrews four-point play with 7:42 left; unfortunately for FIU, that would be as close as the Panthers got the rest of the way.

- Despite forcing FAU into 22 turnovers on the night, which led to 23 points, the Panthers could not overcome the Owls' blistering shooting from the field and the free-throw line ... FAU shot 53.8 percent (28-for-52) from the field, including a 65.2 percent (15-for-23) clip in the second half, and 83.9 percent (26-for-31) from the charity stripe ... FIU could only muster 33.3 percent (23-for-69) from the field, including 30.0 percent (9-for-30) from behind the arc.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN MISS

The Golden Eagles are coming off a dominating performance, at home, on Jan. 26, defeating the defending C-USA champions, Marshall, 101-51 ... The win snapped Southern Miss's two-game losing streak and was its fourth win in the last six games.

- Cortez Edwards leads three players in double figures, averaging 13.3 points-per-game ... Tyree Griffin and LaDavius Draine are netting 12.3 and 10.4 points-per-game, respectively ... Leonard Harper-Baker leads the team on the glass, grabbing 8.3 rebounds-per-game.

THE SERIES AGAINST THE GOLDEN EAGLES
- FIU and Southern Miss have met just six times, with the Golden Eagles leading the series, 4-2 ... All six meetings have come in Conference USA play ... The Panthers' two wins were a 73-71 decision in overtime on Feb. 12, 2015, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and in the first of two meetings last season, on Feb. 1, in Miami, 76-70.

He sits second only to Carlos Arroyo (1997-2001) who finished his career with 459 assists ... Arroyo's total came over four years (100 games).

- In addition, Beard, Jr. is fourth all-time on FIU's career steals list (156) surpassing Patrick McDonald (147, 1982-86) against Old Dominion on Jan. 12 … Next up is Dwight Stewart in third place (172, 1988-91).

DROPPIN' SOME C-NOTES
