FIU in Top Five After Moving Day at Johnie Imes

Cortilla in contention after 36 in Missouri

Columbia, Missouri - (Oct. 1, 2019) – On an unseasonably warm day in the Midwest to open the month of October, the FIU women's golf team shot a 301 during Tuesday's second round of the Johnie Imes Invitational. The Panthers will start Wednesday's final round in a tie for fourth place.
 
Agueda Cortilla followed Monday's 69 with an even-par 72 second round on Tuesday. The junior will enter Wednesday in fourth place and one shot off a trio of players sitting atop the individual leaderboard.
 
Valentina Gilly joins Cortilla after shooting a 74 on Tuesday to place the Venezuela native in a tie for 14th after the opening 36-holes.
 
Diana Velez is tied for 27th after turning in a scorecard of 76.
 
Gabriela Powel and Hannah Leiner, competing as individuals, are in a tie for 55th after shooting a 80 and 75 respectively on Tuesday.
 
Rounding out the Panther scorecard, Carolina Andrade improved three strokes on her Monday total by shooting a second round 79. Andrade will enter Wednesday's final round in a tie for 67th.
 
Host Missouri sits atop the team leaderboard after Tuesday's second round.
 
FIU's third and final round will get underway at 9:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
