JUPITER, Florida (Oct. 14, 2019) – After opening the fall slate with two tournaments out west, the FIU women's golf team returned to the Sunshine State on Monday as the Panthers shot a 580 at the Jupiter Women's Invitational to sit in first overall after the opening 36-holes.
 
Agueda Cortilla leads the FIU insurgence on the leaderboard that features three Panthers in the Top-10. Cortilla came out of the gates hot, firing an opening-round five-under-par 66 before carding a 73 in the afternoon session. The Barcelona, Spain native will have a two-shot lead heading into Tuesday.
 
In sole possession of seventh sits Valentina Gilly. The two-time All-Conference USA selection shot an opening day 144 that included a second-round 71.
 
Diana Velez rounded out the Blue & Gold trio in Top-10 by shooting a two-round total of 147 to tie for 10th. 
 
Rounding out the Panther scorecard, Gabriela Powell and Hannah Leiner are tied for 36th after carding 155 each on Monday.
 
Competing as an individual, Carolina Andrade shot a 159 to enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 47th.
