FIU in Contention After Day One at 42nd Pat Bradley Invitational

Panthers are lurking after opening day the Pat Bradley

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Florida (Oct. 20, 2019) – On the opening day of the 42nd Pat Bradley Invitational, the home-standing FIU women's golf team shot a 287. As a whole, the Panthers are tied for fifth and sit only four shots back of South Alabama on the team leaderboard.  
 
A trio of FIU linksters will enter Monday's second round in a tie for 16th. Reigning Conference USA Golf of the Week Agueda Cortilla, Gabriela Powel and Valentina Gilly fired one-under-par 71s.
 
Carolina Andrade, the first of three Panther individuals, joined the trio in the Top 25 by carding a 72 to tie for 22nd. Diana Velez will enter Monday tied for 35th after an opening-round 74.
 
Rounding out the Blue & Gold scorecard, Hannah Leiner is tied for 56th after carding a total of 76.
 
Competing as an individual, Carolina Rotzinger shot an 80 in her season debut round. The Puebla, Mexico native, enters Monday tied 84th.
 
Also making her season debut, Michelle Rodriguez is in 90th position after an opening-round 86.
 
Florida individual Lauren Waidner sits atop the individual leaderboard after the first 18 holes.
