MIAMI (Oct. 31, 2019) - FIU swimming and diving returns home for a two-day double dual meet against Illinois and Miami this Friday and Saturday, November 1-2, at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
Prior to Friday's competition, the three teams will head to nearby Carlos Finlay Elementary together on Friday morning at 10:15 a.m., to read to select classes as part of a joint community service project.
FIU is 2-3 in duals entering the midway point of the season. The weekend meet features 23 events, spread out over the two-day window. The diving teams will meet at the University Center Pool at the University of Miami on Friday to compete in the 3-meter springboard and platform events that will be scored as part of the meet.
The teams then hit the pool for an 11-event swim program, which will begin at 4:00 p.m. ET. Action will conclude on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. with a 10-event swim program and a round of 1-meter springboard action at Biscayne Bay.
SCOUTING MIAMI
The Panthers meet the 'Canes in the pool for the second time this season. In its first matchup, FIU took down its Miami foe 169-131 on Sept. 28. Historically, FIU leads the series 4-3 overall and with a 3-1 record at home. Miami enters the weekend sporting an 0-2 dual meet record.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS
Illinois and FIU last went head-to-head in 2017, as the Panthers topped the Illini 251.5 - 166.5 at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center. The series is tied at 1-1, after Illinois took the first meeting in 2015.
