MIAMI (Oct. 4, 2019) - The FIU swim and dive team wrapped up day one of the TYR Fall Classic on Friday evening with 213 points, as the Panthers sit in a second-place tie with Pittsburgh.
The Panthers opened up the evening with a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. Senior Julia Miranda led off for FIU followed by senior Grabenhorst, junior Stephanie Hussey and sophomore Helga Fodor touched at 3:50.09.
Miranda then took home fourth in the A final of the 100 fly with a time of 56.85. Freshman Emily Cordovi placed 12th in the B final with a time of 57.36.
Freshman Lamija Medosevic did what she does best and captured the number three spot in the 50 free A final with her time of 23.72. Fodor followed in the B final at number 11 after she touched with a time of 24.24.
During the 100 breast, Grabenhorst placed fourth in the A final with her time of 1:04.43, while freshman Delaine Goll landed the number ninth spot in the B final with her swim of 1:05.31. In the 100 back, Miranda touched at 57.28 to place third in the A final, while sophomore Michaela Trnkova finished 13th in the B final after swimming with a time of 59.20.
The Panther relay team of Medosevic, Fodor, junior Sara Gyteryanffy and Hussey picked up a third-place finish in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:36.04.
From the diving well, junior Rachel Foord picked up a second-place finish with her score of 269.85 during the 3-meter A final event and sophomore Maha Gouda landed with the number 11th spot in the B final with a score of 254.50.
LSU holds a 49-point lead after the opening day, with FIU and Pitt tied for second at 213. TCU isn't far off with 206 points to hold the fourth spot entering Saturday.

Following the TYR Classic this weekend, the Panthers will host the Blue & Gold Alumni Intrasquad Meet on Saturday, Oct. 12, before welcoming four squads to Biscayne Bay for Dual-A-Pool-Ooza on Oct. 18-19.
