FINAL RESULTS
BIRMINGHAM (February 17, 2019) -
Clarissa Cutliff winning her third consecutive C-USA Indoor High Jump crown highlighted the FIU Panthers final day of the 2019 C-USA Championships, hosted at the Birmingham Crossplex. The FIU women finished with 55.5 points, the most the team has scored in the history of the program at the C-USA Indoor Championships.
Cutliff achieved her best jump of the indoor season, with a mark of 1.83m, just .02 off her personal best. Cutliff edged Katherine Isenbarger of Western Kentucky by .03m for the top spot on the podium.
Jada Roberson achieved the highest finish in her Panther career at C-USA Indoors in the 60m, placing in third with a time of 7.50 seconds to give the Panthers six points. Roberson also reached the finals of the 200m, crossing the line in 5th with a time of 24.35.
The women's 400m saw
Terneka Gibson place 5th in a time of 55.72, the second consecutive meet Gibson, a junior, set a personal best. In the distance ranks, a day after placing fourth in the 5,000m,
Sherilene Gelderblom followed that up with a third place finish in the 3,000m, running 9:52.85, a 14-second improvement from her only other indoor 3,000 this season, which was at the IU Relays.
On the men's side, sophomore
Patston Stewart earned FIU points in the 200m, running a PR of 21.37 for 4th place, narrowly missing the podium. Quenshun Watson-Riggins capped a freshman indoor campaign of contributions with an 8th place mark in the triple jump, with a distance of 14.56m, while Royez Baez, in the finals of the 800m, ran 2:04.73 for 8th place.
