The Basics
- Marshall used a big second half, outscoring FIU 47-32 in the final 20 minutes of play, to snap the Panthers' four-game winning streak with a 94-78 victory over FIU on Wednesday night at the Cam Henderson Center in Huntington, West Virginia. The Panthers drop to 18-12 on the year, and 9-8 in Conference USA, while the Thundering Herd improve to 17-13 and 10-7 in C-USA play.

Osasumwen Osaghae (Miami, Florida) scored a career and team-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for his sixth career double-double. Osaghae was one of five FIU players to score double-digits along with
Brian Beard, Jr. (Rancho Cucamonga, California) who had 12 points and
Devon Andrews (Lorain, Ohio),
Antonio Daye, Jr. (Durham, North Carolina) and
Trejon Jacob (Raleigh, North Carolina) who all added 10 points in the loss. Beard, Jr. also handed out six assists on the night.

- FIU fell behind early in the first half but battled back to tie the game at 22-all, and then put together a 9-0 run to take a 31-22 lead on a layup by Michael Douglas (Sachse, Texas) with 8:32 left in the half. FIU eventually pushed its advantage to as many as 12 points, three times, the latter being with just over four minutes remaining in the half on a driving layup by Devon Andrews with 4:21 left before the intermission. The Andrews layup made the score 42-30. Marshall, however, closed the half on a 17-4 run to take a 47-46 lead into the locker room at the break.

- After the Panthers held a slight advantage for the first few minutes of the second half, the Thundering Herd regained the momentum and tied the game at 56-all, just over three minutes in, and took the lead for good on a Taevion Kinsey three-point play. Marshall never relinquished the lead the rest of the night pushing the lead to double-figures with just under 12 minutes left. Despite FIU shooting 43 percent (34-for-79) from the field, and outscoring the Thundering Herd, 60-44, in the paint, Marshall won the battle from behind the three-point arc, hitting 10 treys as opposed to the Panthers' two.
