MIAMI (July 2, 2019) – FIU baseball's
Logan Allen continues to make history as the ace became the first Panther to be named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team late Monday night.
Allen, who was named to the All-CUSA First Team in 2019, built on his Freshman All-American campaign in 2018 by placing second in C-USA with 120 Ks in 84 innings pitched for a 12.86 Ks-per-9 innings ratio to place top 15 in the nation in that category. His pitching prowess was on display when the Deltona, Florida native went 32.2 innings without surrendering an earned run to start league play.
The lefty went 4-6 on the mound with a 3.11 ERA and held opposing batters to a .231 average while winning three C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors. Allen's three weekly honors as a pitcher were tied for the most in the league this past season.
Before heading to the national team camp, Allen was dominating the Cape Cod Baseball league by striking out 24 batters over 15 scoreless innings for the Harwich Mariners.
The 8th USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series that will take place July 2-6 in Cary, Charlotte, Durham and Hickory, North Carolina.
Team USA's 26-man roster will then travel to Taiwan for the 19th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series after which USA Baseball will announce a final 24-man roster to compete in the 43rd USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series from July 16-21 in Japan.
Three of the 8th USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series games will be streamed live on USABaseball.com (July 3, July 4, July 6) and the remaining domestic Collegiate National Team games will be broadcasted on USA Baseball's Facebook channel.
