MIAMI (Aug. 6, 2019) - FIU swim and dive head coach
Randy Horner announced the signing of two student-athletes, Katarzyna Kołodziej and Delaine Goll, who will join the Panthers in the fall.
Kołodziej, a Polish native, brings an impressive resume with her to FIU after becoming a two-time participant of the European Junior Swimming Championships as an amateur. In 2017, Kołodziej had a very successful year after winning a bronze medal at the 2017 Euros in Israel, before also participating at the World Junior Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kołodziej was also a member of the UKP Unia Osuiecim team from 2013-18, while also winning multiple championships as a member of the A2S UMCS Lublin team at the Polish Championships.
"Katarzyna is exactly what we are looking for in a Panther. She is a butterfly specialist that has versatility in freestyle, and will be a key factor in our relays," said Head Coach

Goll, a German native, also had a very successful 2017 after clocking a 2:25.87 in the 200 breast at the German Nationals. In 2016, Goll also competed a the German Nationals in the 200 breast, ranking as high as third in the open class to take top billing in the junior rankings and qualify her for the Junior European Swimming Championships.
At the 2015 Junior World Championships in Singapore, Goll clocked a 1:12.64 in the 100 breast to earn the top spot among juniors. In that same year, Goll again swam her fastest 100 breast event at the German Nationals.
"We are very excited to have Delaine joining our team. She has the ability to make a big impact on the C-USA and NCAA stage," said Horner.
Kołodziej will major in international business at FIU, while Goll will study athletic training
The Panthers kick off the regular season at home on Thursday, Sept. 26 when they host Florida at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic center at 4:00 p.m.
