MIAMI (July 8, 2019) - The FIU men's soccer team announced the release of its 2019 schedule on Monday, as the Panthers get ready for a new season on the pitch.

In addition to FIU's usually demanding Conference USA schedule, two opponents on this this year's ledger – C-USA foe Kentucky and Akron – advanced to postseason play at the end of the 2018 campaign. Akron lost to Maryland in the national championship game. 

"We are very excited about the 2019 schedule and look forward to the start of the season and our first game against St. Bonaventure," head coach  Kevin Nylen said. 

The Panthers will officially open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 at home against St. Bonaventure with first kick slated for 7:00 p.m. FIU welcomes James Madison to close out the opening weekend on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. The Blue & Gold will split its next weekend at home and on the road as FIU travels to Jacksonville on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:00 p.m., before returning home to host Seton Hall on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. 

The Panthers open the C-USA slate on the road as FIU makes the short trip to Boca Raton to face off against Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers spend the next three matches at home, as FIU hosts North Florida (Sept. 17), Old Dominion (Sept. 21) and Stetson (Sept. 24) with all first kicks slated for 7:00 p.m.

After capping the longest home stretch of the season, the Panthers will spend most of the month of October on the road as they face Akron (Oct. 5), Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 8), Kentucky (Oct. 13) and USF (Oct. 22) with the lone home match coming against Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m. FIU splits the last two matches of the year, with the Panthers traveling to Columbia to face South Carolina on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m., before closing out the regular season at home versus Marshall on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m. 

The 2019 C-USA Championship Tournament will be hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia, with action slated to begin on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and last through Sunday, Nov. 17.
