MIAMI (Aug. 6, 2019) - Former FIU men's soccer great Santiago Patino was called up by the Colombian U-23 National Team this past week, continuing his meteoric rise post-FIU.

Since being selected third overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City, Patiño has appeared in nine games while starting in three. The forward made his professional debut on March 16, 2019 against the Montreal Impact, coming on as a 74th minute substitute and assisting Dom Dwyer's goal in stoppage time. The Orlando native would go on to score his first goal with Orlando City on July 7 in the draw against the Philadelphia Union.

The head coach for the Colombian U-23 National team, Arturo Reyes, called up the 23 players in preparation for the CONMEBOL Olympic Qualifying Tournament which will be hosted by Colombia in 2020. The team began training on Monday, Aug. 5 in the Colombian Football Federation Sports Headquarters in Bogota, Colombia.

Patino holds a dual citizenship with the United States and Colombia.
