MIAMI (Aug. 7, 2019) - With kickoff in New Orleans just over three weeks away, the FIU football team hosted its annual Media Day at Riccardo Silva Stadium on Wednesday.

Butch Davis began the event by addressing members of the media, before fielding questions. The action then moved to the players as FIU was represented by
Maurice Alexander,
Anthony Jones,
Sage Lewis,
Isaiah Brown,
Olin Cushion III,
James Morgan,
Austin Maloney,
Tony Gaiter IV,
Stantley Thomas-Oliver III,
Dallas Connell,
Noah Curtis and
Teair Tart.
"This message I've told this team since the spring is that 2018 doesn't matter anymore," Coach Davis said. "I don't care if we won 20 games last year or if we didn't win any, now it's all about 2019 and all about this team."
The Panthers broke the school record for wins last season, after earning a 9-4 mark in 2018. FIU capped the season with a 35-32 victory over Toledo in the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl.
FIU will open the 2019 football season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. ET when the Panthers take on the Tulane Green Wave in New Orleans. The Blue & Gold will host WKU the following weekend on Sept. 7 for the 2019 home open, set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. ET.
