COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - (Sept. 25, 2019) – On the opening day of the 2019-20 season, the FIU women's golf team, paced by the junior duo of
Agueda Cortilla and
Valentina Gilly, shot 585 over the opening 36-holes to tie for fourth at of the Coeur D'Alene Collegiate.
Cortilla led the Panthers on Monday with 3-over par 145 to tie for 12th heading into Tuesday's final round.
Gilly joined Cortilla in the Top 20 with a 36-hole performance of 146. The two-time All-CUSA selections sits in a tie for 17th.
Carolina Andrade is tied for 28
th after carding a 148 on Monday that included a first round 67. Andrade's 67 is a new career-low round for the junior from Colombia.
Gabriela Powel carded a 154 to sit in 65th place after 36-holes.
Rounding out the Panther scorecard,
Hannah Leiner shot a 157 and is tied for 72nd heading into Tuesday.
Diana Velez, competing as an individual, is tied for 78th after turning in a scorecard of 159 on Monday.
Host Gonzaga, led by individual leader Jessica Mangrobang, leads the field heading into Tuesday's final round.
FIU concludes the Coeur D'Alene Collegiate at 11:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
