BY THE NUMBERS
As a team, FIU ranks first nationally with 116 total blocks this season. The Panthers are also third for swats per outing (6.8) and fifth for steals (172) and steals per contest (10.1).
Osasumwen Osaghae continues to lead the nation in blocked shots. The senior has 69 swats this season and is averaging 4.06 blocks per game, which ranks second nationally.
Antonio Daye, Jr. ranks first in the conference for total assists (85) and assists per outing (5.0).
The team is 7-0 at home this season. The Panthers have won 12-straight at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, dating back to last season, with the previous home loss taking place against Southern Miss on Jan. 31, 2019.
LAST TIME OUT
FIU fell at Rice 92-78 on Saturday, dropping the Panthers to 11-6 for the year and 2-2 in league play. The team shot 46.8% from the field but allowed the opposition to go 40% from behind the arc during the loss.
Trejon Jacob and
Devon Andrews scored 19 points each, while Osaghae tallied 18 points and eight rebounds, and Daye Jr. added 10 points.
SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
UAB comes to the Sunshine State at 11-6 this season and 2-2 against Conference USA opponents. The Blazers are riding a two-game winning streak after taking down WKU and Marshall at home last weekend. As a team, UAB is averaging 64.1 points while shooting 44% from the field.
Individually, Jalen Benjamin averages a squad-best 11.8 pointer per outing while Tevin Lovan follows closely behind with 11 points per game. Tyreek Scott-Grayson leads the team with 1.9 assists per contest and 0.6 blocks per appearance.

The FIU men's basketball program welcomes back its alumni to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 18, for the Panthers' game against Middle Tennessee. Tipoff from the Conference USA clash is set for 7 p.m. ET. The 2019-2020 campaign marks the 25th anniversary of the banner season, which resulted in the program's first NCAA appearance.
