MIAMI (Jan. 3, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team continues Conference USA play with a game against UTSA at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 4. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.

BY THE NUMBERS
FIU currently leads the nation in total blocks (104) and swats per contest (7.4). Additionally, the team comes in fifth for total steals (144) and steals per outing (10.3) while also ranking eighth nationally for three-point defense (26.1).
Osasumwen Osaghae's 64 blocks this season paces the league, and the senior is also atop the standings for blocked shots per game (4.57). Antonio Daye, Jr. comes in first among Conference USA players with 4.9 assists per outing and 69 total assists.
Not only does Osaghae lead the nation in swats, but the senior also broke the program record for career blocked shots during FIU's game against UTEP. The forward currently posts 194 blocks for his career. Adrian Diaz held the previous Panther record with 192 total blocks from 2014-16.
LAST TIME OUT
The Panthers topped the Miners 69-67 in their first game of C-USA play. The team went 42.1% from the field and 42.9% from behind the arc during the victory.
Devon Andrews led FIU with 16 points in the win. Osaghae logged 12 rebounds and was a point shy from recording a double-double during his record day.
GETTING TO KNOW THE ROADRUNNERS
UTSA enters the contest at 6-8 for the year and 0-1 against C-USA opponents. Before facing the Panthers, the Roadrunners fell to FAU 79-64 in their first league game of the season. As a team, UTSA is shooting 41.6% and averaging 76.7 points per outing.
Individually, Jhivvan Jackson ranks first nationally with 147 three-point attempts and 349 total points this season. The junior is also second in the nation for total field goal attempts (298), third for points per game (24.9) and fourth for overall field goals made (122).

ALUMNI GAME
The FIU men's basketball program welcomes back its alumni to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 18, for the Panthers' game against Middle Tennessee. Tipoff from the Conference USA clash is set for 7 p.m. ET. The 2019-2020 campaign marks the 25th anniversary of the banner season, which resulted in the program's first NCAA appearance.
