Men's Basketball Begins Series with Gamecocks on Friday

The Panthers take on Jacksonville State at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Friday at 7 p.m.

MIAMI (Dec. 3, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team faces Jacksonville State at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Friday, Dec. 3. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET, and fans can catch the game on C-USA TV.

LAST TIME OUT
FIU topped Central Michigan 96-76 on Tuesday night. Overall, FIU shot 50.7% for the game and 43.9% from beyond the arc. The team was a three-pointer shy of tying the program record set against Cleveland State last season. Individually, five Panther players scored in double figures, while Lovett led the way with 20 points. Tevin Brewer tallied 14 points and went 4-4 from three. Defensively, Anthony Mason added seven rebounds and five blocked shots.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
JSU enters the contest at 3-1 this season. Jacksonville State opened its 2020-21 campaign with an 81-57 loss at then-ranked No. 25 Alabama, but the team bounced back, registering victories against Florida Atlantic, South Alabama and the University of Mobile. The Gamecocks were picked to finish seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference this season by the league's coaches and sports information directors. As a team, Jacksonville State is shooting 39.7% from the field and 34.6% from three. Darian Adams leads the squad in scoring, averaging 13.0 points, while Demaree King comes into the contest with 12.0 points per outing.

BY THE NUMBERS
FIU enters the game ranked third in the country with 14.0 three-pointers per game. The team is also seventh nationally with 42 threes made and eighth with 123 threes taken this season. Individually, Antonio Daye, Jr. sits 19th in the country and first in Conference USA with nine total steals. The junior is also 28th in the NCAA and second in C-USA with 3.00 steals per contest. Radshad Davis's 10 three pointers this season sits 28th nationally and first in the league. The forward's three-point percentage (50%) ranks 57th in the country and sixth in the conference.
