MIAMI (Feb. 26, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team begins Conference USA Bonus Play by hosting North Texas at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday, Feb. 27. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

BY THE NUMBERS
The men's basketball team leads the nation with 179 total blocks and 6.6 swats per game. The team also comes into the contest ranked second for three-point defense (27.8).
Individually, Osasumwen Osaghae comes into the contest as the nation's leader for blocks (105) and swats per outing (3.89). Antonio Daye, Jr. leads the conference with 136 total assists and assists per game (5.0). Devon Andrews paces the FIU squad with 16.6 points per game, putting the senior fourth in the league.
KNOWING NORTH TEXAS
North Texas heads to the Sunshine State with an 18-10 overall record and a 12-3 mark in league play. The Mean Green averages 71.6 points per game as a team while shooting 48.8% from the field.
Umoja Gibson leads the UNT squad with 14.6 points per game, with the guard followed closely behind by Javion Hamlet, who averages 14.2 points per contest.
During the first meeting between the teams, UNT came out on top, besting the Panthers 74-56. Trejon Jacob led FIU with 13 points while Osaghae (11) and Andrews (10) also posted double figures. For the Mean Green, Hamlet posted a game-high 16 points, and Gibson tallied 14 during the contest.
LAST TIME OUT
Before having an 11-day hiatus, the Panthers fell at Southern Miss 75-67. FIU shot 39.7% in the loss while allowing the Golden Eagles to go 54.9% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.
Andrews led the Panther squad with 24 total points and seven rebounds during the contest. Daye Jr. improved on his season-best total, tallying 21 points for the game.
