Panther Q&A: Cameron Corcoran

Getting to know Panther guard Cameron Corcoran

MIAMI (April 14, 2020) - First up in our Q&A series with FIU men's basketball is guard, Cameron Corcoran. After sitting out the 2018-19 season, the Orlando native helped the Panthers earn a 19-13 record in 2019-20, including a victory over Rice during the first round of the Conference USA Tournament.

Corcoran begins his junior campaign during the 2020-21 season. The guard made the transition to the Sunshine State after spending his first collegiate season at Little Rock. During his first season in the Blue and Gold, Corcoran averaged 19.5 minutes per game and 5.8 points per contest.

Q: What made you want to play basketball at FIU?
A: "The relationship the coaches built with me and the vision they had set to win."
 
Q: What's your favorite thing about playing for Coach Ballard and the coaching staff?
 A: "The freedom they allow us to play with and the tempo we are coached to play at."
                                             
Q: What's your favorite on the court memory since being at FIU?
A: "My favorite on the court memory would have to be when DA (Devon Andrews) was upset he didn't get a call and the ref threw the ball at his head and he flopped from it on the replay."

Q: Any special meaning behind your jersey number?
A: "Jason Williams wore 55."
 
Q: What made you want to play basketball?
A: "My mom always wanted me to play basketball since I was a toddler. It happened to work out."
 
Q: If you could play 1v1 against anyone, past or present, who would you play and do you think you'd win?
 A: "Joey Rodriguez, yes I think I would win because he doesn't like to play defense."

Q: Any goals for next season?
 A: "Goals for this upcoming season is to win the regular season and conference tournament title."
 
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: "Coach Cason's "shoot to get hot" shooting drills."
 
Q: Any plans after college?
A: "I want to hopefully play professional and provide for my son."
