MIAMI (Jan. 15, 2021) – The FIU men's basketball team hits the road for a Conference USA clash against rival Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Jan. 16. Tipoff from FAU Arena is set for 4 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
FIU fell to the Owls 81-79 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday night. As a team, the Panthers shot 45.9% from the floor and 51.9% from beyond the arc in the loss. Four FIU players scored in double figures, with Radshad Davis leading the way with 16 points. Javaunte Hawkins was a perfect 4-4 from three during the loss.

BY THE NUMBERS
FIU enters the contest third in the nation with 11.9 threes per game, 422 three-pointers attempted and 155 threes made. The squad's 125 total steals is sixth nationally, while the 9.6 steals per outing puts the Panthers seventh in the country. The team also ranks eighth for turnovers forced (18.54).

Antonio Daye, Jr. ranks first in the conference and sixth nationally with 32 total steals this season, and the guard's 68 assists are 22nd in the country and lead the league. Dimon Carrigan's 2.64 blocks per game rank the senior 17th in the country and second in C-USA.

SCOUTING FAU
The Owls enter the contest at 6-6 overall, 1-2 in conference play and undefeated at home this season. The team averages 80.6 points while shooting 47.3% from the floor during its 2020-21 campaign. 

In FAU's game on Thursday night, the Owls shot 48.3% from the field and 44.4% from three. Florida Atlantic out-rebounded the Panthers 46-23 and held the 22-4 advantage in second-chance points. Jailyn Ingram posted a team-best 24 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double.

UP NEXT
The Panthers return home for a series against Marshall on Jan. 22-23. Tipoff on Friday night is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Saturday's game is slated for 2 p.m.
