Panthers Set for Showdown with Thundering Herd

FIU returns home for set with Marshall.

MIAMI (Jan. 21, 2021) – The FIU men's basketball team welcomes Marshall for a two-game Conference USA series at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center this weekend. The Panthers open the series on Friday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. and follow the game with a contest on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m.

BY THE NUMBERS
FIU enters the contest fourth in the nation with 11.3 threes per game and sixth with 441 three-pointers attempted. The Panther squad places eighth in the country with 158 threes made and ninth for both turnovers forced (18.29) and total steals (129).

Antonio Daye, Jr. ranks first in the conference and ninth nationally with 35 total steals this season. Daye Jr. also sits atop the league leaderboard with 252 total points and 92 foul shots attempted. Dimon Carrigan comes into the contest second in C-USA and 18th nationally with 2.50 swats per game.

SCOUTING THE HERD
Marshall enters the weekend at 7-4 overall and 1-3 against conference opponents. The Thundering Herd averages 78.5 points per game while shooting 45.3% this season. Taevion Kinsey and Jarrod West were named to the C-USA preseason team. Kinsey leads the squad with 20.5 points per game while West posts a team-high 6.5 assists per outing.
