MIAMI (Jan. 21, 2021) – The FIU swimming and diving program is primed for a busy weekend of competition, as they travel to Coral Gables this Friday, Jan. 22, to take on the Miami Hurricanes for a dual meet, before riding up to Fort Myers on Saturday, Jan. 23, for a second clash with the FGCU Eagles.
Friday's competition against the Hurricanes gets underway at 3:00 p.m. ET from the Norman Whitten Pool. FIU will celebrate Senior Day against Miami, as the program honors

Rachel Foord before the event. The Panthers face a quick turnaround on Saturday as they head up to the FGCU Aquatics Complex for another dual-meet beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
MIAMI PREVIEW
Miami has posted a 2-1 record this season, capturing dual meet victories against both Vanderbilt and FGCU. The Hurricanes defeated the Eagles in Fort Myers last week on Wednesday, Jan. 13, by a final margin of 171-129. Miami's lone loss of the season came in its season opener against Florida, which the Hurricanes dropped by a score of 190-94 to the Gators.
FGCU PREVIEW
The Eagles hold a 1-1 record in dual meets for the year, after splitting two competitions last week against in-state foes Miami and UNF. After taking a loss from the Hurricanes last Wednesday, the Eagles bounced back with a 201-61 victory over the Ospreys on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Jacksonville.
INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU holds a two-meet win streak in dual contests against Miami dating back to last season. The Panthers handed the Hurricanes a 169-131 loss on Sept. 28, 2019, before claiming a 267-180 victory on Nov. 2, 2019. The FIU divers also claimed two-of-three events in a divers-only meet last weekend against both Miami and Florida in Gainesville.
Saturday will mark the second time FIU sees the Eagles this season, after the Panthers finished second overall at the FGCU Invitational back on Nov. 19-21. FIU fell just short of the Eagles for first-place in the meet but eclipsed Georgia Southern with a final tally of 994 points. The Panther divers will see both FGCU and Miami one final time this campaign, when FIU welcomes both programs to the FIU Diving Invitational in Coral Springs on Monday, Feb. 8.
UP NEXT
The Panthers are back in action next week for their final dual-meet competition of the 2020-21 season, when they host rival FAU on two separate days. FIU first welcomes the Owls for a divers-only meet in Coral Springs on Wednesday, Jan. 27, beginning at 10:35 a.m. ET. The swimmers then hit the pool against FAU at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center on Saturday, Jan. 30, starting at 11 a.m. ET.
