MIAMI (Jan. 29, 2021) – FIU is set to cap its dual meet against FAU tomorrow, with the swimmers taking on the Owls at the Biscayne Bay Aquatics Center this Saturday, Jan. 30, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
The Panthers will receive last season's Conference-USA Championship rings during a ceremony before the meet at 8:30 a.m. ET, honoring the group for its incredible accomplishment in the 2019-20 campaign.
The contest this Saturday will feature only swimming events, as the Panther divers completed their events against FAU this past Wednesday at the Coral Springs Aquatics Center. FIU swept all three events on Wednesday to place the Panthers in an excellent position heading into the second portion of the dual meet against FAU. The scores from Wednesday's diving events will be added to the overall score of Saturday's swimming events to decide the dual meet winner.
FAU PREVIEW
The Owl swimmers have yet to compete in 2020-21, with the meet on Saturday marking FAU's first swimming competition of the campaign. Last season FAU finished 3-3 in dual meets, with the Panthers besting the Owls by a score of 175-103 at the Biscayne Bay Aquatics Center on Feb. 1, 2020. The Panther divers will see the Owls a second time during the current regular season, when FIU hosts the South Florida Diving Invitational on Monday, Feb. 8.
INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU has beaten the Owls in 10 consecutive dual meets dating back to Oct. 5, 2013. Since joining Conference USA in 2013, the FIU women's swimming and diving team holds a perfect 10-0 record against its rival from Boca Raton.
UP NEXT
The Panther divers will be in action again on Monday, Feb. 8, when FIU hosts its annual South Florida Diving Invitational. The meet is set to take place at the Coral Springs Aquatic Center and start time is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. ET.
