FIU Hoops Heads to Middle Tennessee

The Panthers take on the Blue Raiders in a Conference USA series this weekend.

MIAMI (Jan. 7, 2021) – The FIU men's basketball team hits the road for the first time in Conference USA play when the Panthers head to Middle Tennessee for a two-game series. The first game of the weekend is set for Friday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. ET. The series finale tips off at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 9.

LAST TIME OUT
FIU began conference play by going 1-1 against Old Dominion last weekend. In FIU's win over the Monarchs, four players scored in double-figures, including Antonio Daye, Jr., who led the way with 16. During the 71-66 loss to ODU, Radshad Davis recorded his second double-double of the year, collecting 10 rebounds and 18 points.

BY THE NUMBERS
FIU enters the contest second in the nation with 13.1 threes per game, and 131 three-pointers made this season. The squad's 349 attempts from beyond the arc comes in at fourth in the country, while the 10.1 steals per game is good for sixth nationally.

Daye Jr. ranks second in the conference and 10th nationally with 27 total steals this season, and the guard's 62 assists are 14th in the country and first in the league. Dimon Carrigan's 3.00 blocks per game rank the senior 10th in the country and second in C-USA. Tevin Brewer is shooting 52.1% from three, which paces the league and is eighth nationally.

SCOUTING MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The Blue Raiders enter the weekend at 2-4 this season with wins over Murray State and Covenant. The team averages 62.8 points per game while shooting 37.2% this season. Dontrell Shuler leads the team with 11.7 points per game and 2.8 assists per outing. Jo'Vontae Millner-Criss is first on the squad with 6.2 rebounds per appearance.

UP NEXT
The Panthers return to the Sunshine State to take on Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Jan. 14. Tipoff from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center is slated for 7 p.m.
