MIAMI (Nov. 3, 2021) – Christie Chue of the FIU women's swimming and diving team has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Chue claims the award after winning four different events in FIU's tri-meet against Nova Southeastern and Ave Maria last Saturday, Oct. 30, while helping the Panthers take first-place overall in the meet.

Chue anchored the 200-yard medley relay and posted a time of 23.33 on the final leg as the Panthers won the event. In the 200 freestyle relay, Chue posted a time of 24.43 to help FIU grab another first-place finish. The standout swimmer from Singapore also won individual events in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:02.32 and 2:16.66, respectively.

The 100 breaststroke time from Chue leads C-USA this season, while Chue's time in the 200 breast stands as the second fastest in the league behind only her own mark at FIU's season-opening TYR Classic.

UP NEXT
FIU returns to the pool next Saturday, Nov. 6, when the Panthers travel to FGCU for a dual-meet against the Owls. The meet is slated to begin at 12 p.m. ET in Fort Myers, Florida.
