"We handled a good team today in FGCU," said Head Coach
Randy Horner. "We're proud of that, but we know we've still got a lot of work to do to get better. Being on the road, weather conditions weren't ideal, but the team rallied. They swam tough. Not our best, but it gives us a place [to see] where we're at and now it's time to get a little rest heading into the mid-season [Purdue] invitational."
Julia Miranda highlighted the day for FIU as the Panther won all three individual events in which she competed while helping the Blue & Gold take first overall in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Miranda secured the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke (57.05), 200 backstroke (2:04.92), and 100 butterfly (55.70).
Maha Gouda starred on the boards with first-place marks in both the 1-meter (321.38) and 3-meter dive (317.55), which stand as the Olympian's highest scores of the fall season.
In relays, the group of
Michaela Trnkova,
Sara Gyertyanffy,
Stephanie Hussey, and
Elinah Phillip won the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:42.54. Hussey, Phillip,
Christie Chue, and Miranda took first place in the 400 freestyle with a mark of 3:28.11.
