ATHENS, Ga. – The FIU men's basketball team will tip off the 2021-22 season tonight with a matchup at Southeastern Conference member the University of Georgia in a 7 p.m. tip from Stegeman Coliseum that will be televised on SEC Network +. Fans can listen to the radio call on Mixlr.com/FIUAthletics.
The Panthers and Bulldogs will be meeting for the first time in program history and the contest will mark FIU's first against an SEC opponent since opening the 2019-20 season at Mississippi State.
FIU returns a total of five players from last season's squad, including senior
Eric Lovett, who averaged 10.5 points while connecting on a team-best 51 three-point field goals.
The Panthers also feature 10 new faces on the 2021-22 roster entering opening night at Georgia, including five true freshmen.
FIU will open the home portion of the schedule on Friday, Nov. 12 in a 7 p.m. tip against Trinity College from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
