EL PASO, Texas (Feb 13, 2021) – The FIU men's basketball team battled UTEP at the Don Haskins Center on Saturday night. The Panthers fell to the Miners 77-68 during the Conference USA clash.
FIU went 41.4% from the field and 28.0% from beyond the arc. The Panthers had the 22-20 edge in the paint while the bench held the 22-17 advantage over the Miners. However, the team went just 13-23 from the charity stripe while UTEP capitalized from the foul line, shooting 82.1%.
Eric Lovett led all Panther players with 21 points during the loss. Antonio Daye, Jr. also scored in double-figures, tallying 15 points while also posting four steals.
FIU returns to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center for its final home series against Southern Miss. Tipoff on Feb. 19 is set for 7 p.m., while the contest on Feb. 20 is slated for 2 p.m.
