Box Score MIAMI (Feb. 20, 2021) - FIU women's tennis defeated visiting North Florida on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers hosted their first home match in almost a year. The Panthers downed the Ospreys 5-2 on Saturday, as FIU improved its record for the season to 2-0.

FIU won the doubles point to begin action on Saturday, as the 59th-ranked duo of
Kamila Umarova and
Basak Akbas downed their Osprey foes 6-3. The Panthers also picked up wins from
Marina Alcaide and
Kristina Miletic (6-4) on court two and from the freshman duo of
Andjela Skrobonja and
Andreea Velcea (6-2).
In singles action, Velcea and Skrobonja won in straight sets before Umarova fought off back-to-back tiebreaker sets to clinch the FIU victory. Alcaide added a point following the clinch, as she won her super tiebreaker in the third set to earn a hard-fought victory on court three.

The Panthers travel to Stetson on Monday, Feb. 22, for their next match. First serve is set for 10:00 a.m.
