MIAMI (Feb. 24, 2021) - The FIU women's swimming and diving team begins its quest for a seventh-straight league title on Thursday, Feb. 25, when the Panthers open up the Conference USA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.
Head Coach
Randy Horner and his group are looking to repeat as champions after setting a league record last season with 1,044.50 points scored in the championship meet, while also breaking the C-USA record for most consecutive titles won. Since joining C-USA in 2015, the Blue & Gold have been crowned league champions in every single season. The six-straight conference titles also rank as the most in a row by any athletic program in FIU history.Â
FIU will compete against Rice, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Old Dominion and North Texas at the Georgia Tech Swim Center, where aquatic events for the 1996 Olympics took place. The league contest will stretch throughout a three-day span, with the final day of the championships wrapping up on Saturday, Feb. 27.
Preliminary events will get underway beginning at 10:30 a.m. each day for the swimmers, with divers hitting the water for prelims at Noon. Event finals will start at 6 p.m. every day, with first medals up for grabs on Thursday in the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 500 freestyle, the 3-meter dive, and the 400 medley relay.
