MIAMI (March 11, 2021) - The FIU women's tennis team returns home on Friday, March 12, as the Panthers host Florida A&M for a Noon contest.
The home match will be the first for the Panthers in nearly a month.
HOME COOKING
The Panthers finally return home to the friendly confines of the FIU Tennis Courts this Friday, as the Panthers host in-state foe FAMU before welcoming East Tennessee State on Wednesday, March 17. The Panthers enter the homestand undefeated, after earning the program's first 3-0 start since 2010.
FIU has a trio of Panthers with perfect marks in singles play, as
Kamila Umarova (2-0),
Andreea Velcea (3-0) and
Marina Alcaide (3-0) have all produced unblemished records in 2021. In doubles play, the 59th-ranked pair of Umarova and
Basak Akbas is 2-0 to lead the Panthers at the No. 1 spot.
SCOUTING FAMU
FAMU enters the contest at 0-4 overall this season, with all four matches coming on the road.
