MIAMI (March 13, 2021) - The FIU softball team racked up 24 hits on Saturday, as the Panthers took a pair of games from visiting South Dakota.
The Panthers and Coyotes will face off one more time on Sunday, with first pitch set for 10 a.m.
FIU platted four runs in the final inning of the first game, as
Brianna Hill scored from third on a passed ball to earn the walk-off 8-7 win. FIU jumped ahead early in the second game, with the Panthers cruising to an 8-2 victory to cap the day.
Jessica Rivera earned five RBI to lead the Panthers at the plate, thanks in part to her second homer of the season that she roped over the left-field wall.
Kayla Whitehead hit her team-leading third triple of the season, while
Alexis Ross and Hill each earned their first triples of the year. FIU had six extra base hits overall on Saturday, earning two doubles, three triples and a homer.
In the circle,
Kendahl Dunford pitched 8.1 innings on the day and earned a pair of wins in her two appearances. Dunford's second appearance was a complete game performance, as she struck out four and allowed just two runs.

FIU will go for the series sweep on Sunday, March 14, as the Panthers and Coyotes battle at 10 a.m.
