MIAMI (August 31, 2021) - The FIU Panthers cross country program is set to open its 2021 season Wednesday at the FAU Invitational, held at Sounty County Regional Park in Boca Raton.
The men's 5k will begin at 6:30 pm, while the women are set to start at 7:00 pm.
"I'm excited to get another season underway," said Director of Cross Country
Jermaine Felix. "Both teams have worked extremely hard this offseason, and it will be fun to see how that translates to the course for our first meet."
Bethune-Cookman, FAMU, FGCU, Keiser, Lynn, Miami, Stetson, and UCF will all join FIU as teams competing in the meet Wednesday.
The FIU men are led by
Eliseo Torres, who set a personal best at the Conference USA Championships last year, finishing 29th in 25:43.
The women were led at conference last season by
Andrea Loizidou, who finished 27th as a freshman with a time of 22:45 in the 6k.
