MIAMI (Sept. 6, 2021) - After its second victory over a Top-15 team within a nine day span, the FIU men's soccer team is ranked in two national polls and has risen to No. 16 in the country according to CollegeSoccerNews.com (CSN).

After appearing at No. 19 in CSN's TOP 30 National Poll last week, the Panthers have jumped up in the most recent poll released today, and are also appearing at No. 24 in TopDrawerSoccer.com's national poll.

The Blue & Gold defeated No. 12 VCU in FIU's home opener last Saturday, Sept. 4, by a shutout score of 1-0. Prior to that on Aug. 26, the Panthers dominated No. 13 UCF in Orlando by a score of 4-0 to start the season.

FIU is the only program in the country that has defeated two squads that were previously ranked Top-15. The Blue & Gold are the highest-ranked program in the state of Florida, and one of five teams from Conference USA to be either ranked or receiving votes.

The Panthers have yet to allow a goal this season, posting three consecutive clean sheets to start the 2021 campaign. FIU stands as one of 20 teams in the nation to start the year with a 3-0-0 record, and one of only three 3-0-0 teams that have yet to allow a goal.

An FIU defender has scored in every game this season, proving the Panthers' backline also has the ability to generate offense for the club.

The  United Soccer Coaches poll is set to be released Tuesday, Sept. 7, with the Panthers receiving 32 votes in the previous week's poll.

UP NEXT
The Blue & Gold is set to face an in-state rival tomorrow, Sept. 7, when FIU travels to play the UNF Ospreys in Jacksonville. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET from Hodges Stadium.
