Box Score TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – FIU women's tennis freshman Yasmine Kabbaj posted a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win in No. 2 singles to lead the Panthers in a 4-1 against No. 19 ranked University of Florida on the opening day of play at the 2022 ITA Kickoff in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday afternoon.
 
FIU will conclude its play at the event, which is being held at Florida State University, on Sunday, Jan. 30 with an 11 a.m. match against the University of Illinois.
 
Kabbaj picked up the lone point for the Panthers as she defeated No. 34 ranked Marlee Zein in No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-1). 
 
Kamila Umarova was also leading McCartney Kessler (6-2, 3-4) in No. 1 singles before the match was called. 
 
The Panthers were defeated in each of the three doubles tilts with Umarova and Andjela Skrobonja teaming up to push the Gators duo of Carly Briggs and Marlee Zein to the limit in the No. 1 match before falling by a 6-4 score.
