MIAMI (Oct. 29, 2022) – Swimming and Diving closed out its dual meet with Liberty, Saturday morning, coming away with a hard-fought win, 234-214.

The Panthers came into day two against the Flames with an eight-point lead.

After the first break FIU was still leading with a 146-133 advantage.

Lamija Medosevic,
Christie Chue,
Mia Zahab and
Harliai Curhtoys-Davies (3:46.15) won the 400-Medley Relay and Liberty took the 1000-Free.

On the diving board, the Panthers took the top three spots in the 1-Meter with
Maha Gouda placing first with a score of 325.65.

After two more Chue victories, in the 100-Medley (57.80) and in the 100-Breast (1:02.95), and Curthoys-Davies' win in the 100-Free (51.61), FIU's advantage moved to 192-176.

The Panthers closed out the swim events with a win in the 200-Free Realy with a 1:34.61, logged by Medosevic,
Jessica Shpilko, Curthoys-Davies and
Kelsie Campbell. The win would put FIU ahead, 218-211.

The divers closed the day out with another clean sweep, this time on the 3-Meter, to secure the Panthers win. Gouda placed first again with 300.30.

At the end of the two day meet, the Panthers were victorious, 234-214, moving to 2-1 on the season.

UP NEXT
Swim and Dive back in action next week November 4 and 5 when they host Illinois in a dual meet. Day one of competition will start at 5 p.m. ET and day two will start at 10 a.m. ET, all at the FIU Aquatic Center.
