(RV) Men’s Soccer Hosts UCF in Conference Clash

Panthers are riding three-match win streak

MIAMI (Oct. 6, 2022) – (RV) Men's Soccer is back at FIU Soccer Stadium Sunday, October 9 to take on UCF in an American Athletic Conference matchup.
 
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET.
 
The Panthers are 7-3 this season and hold a 3-1 record in The American. FIU is coming off a comprehensive, 3-0, win on the road against Temple.
 
The Knights are 4-4 in 2022 with a 2-2 record away from home. UCF is in the midst of a three-match losing streak, most recently falling to SMU, 1-2.
 
ON A ROLL
With FIU's result on Wednesday night the Panthers have now won three matches in a row. They have now topped Temple, then No. 22 Memphis and VCU during this streak.
 
This is the second three-match winning streak of the season. The first happened between August 29 – September 6 when the Panthers took down then No. 25 St. John's, then No. 13 UNC and UNF.
 
The Panthers have also not lost consecutive matches in 2022.
 
SPREADING THE WEALTH
FIU has scored 22 goals this season with 19 coming with assists. These goals and assists have come from all over the field and from nearly every position.
 
13 different players have a goal to their name in 2022 with six of them having scored at least two. Stephen Afrifa leads the team in goals with five.
 
10 different players have registered an assist this season. Four players, in Paulo Alves, Yushi Nagao, Simon Afrifa and Julian Hodek, have three each to lead the team.
 
SCOUTING UCF
The Knights attack is led by junior Lucca Dourado, who has bagged eight goals in eight matches played this season. Only one other UCF player has multiple goals. His eight goals rank in the top 10 in the country in scoring.
 
Freshman Juanvi Muñoz is the man between the posts for UCF. He has started all eight matches for the Knights, making 29 saves and posting two shutouts.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers are back in action, Sunday, October 16 with a trip to Tampa to take on USF. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and can be watched live on ESPN+.
