MIAMI (Nov. 17, 2022) – Swimming and Diving scored 133 total points and held on to fourth place after the second day of competition at the Purdue Invitational, Thursday night. It was a complete team effort with 11 different swimmers scoring points on the day and seven top five finishes.
The relay teams put on a repeat performance scoring another 60 crucial points on fifth and third place finishes in the 200-medley and 800-free relays, respectively.
Nicole Frank,
Christie Chue and
Harliai Curthoys-Davies all earned team-high fourth place finishes, netting the Panthers 45 points.
The team of
Kelsie Campbell, Chue,
Kasia Kolosziej and
Jessica Shpilko kicked the eveing session off by posting a 1:40.89 to take fifth in the 200-medley relay.
The Panthers placed three in the top ten in the 400-individual medley with Frank (4:16.85) taking fourth,
Mia Zahab (4:18.80) placing fifth, and
Ellie Maradyn (4:19.09) finishing in sixth.
FIU would earn two more top five finishes in the individual races before the second break. Curthoys-Davies (1:00.44) finished fourth in the 200-free and Chue (1:48.26) took fourth in the 100-breast.
In the 1-meter dive, two Panthers scored points. Graduate student
Maha Gouda recorded a team-high score of 262.4, good for sixth.
FIU closed the night out with a strong performance in the 800-free relay. Chue, Curthoys-Davies,
Lamija Medosevic and Zahab recorded a 7:19.03 to take third place and 34 points.

FIU is back in the pool Friday, November 18 for day three of the Purdue Invitational. The final day of competition begins at 10:00 a.m. with the finals starting at 4 p.m.
