Swim and Dive Takes 4th at Purdue Invitational

Panthers finish weekend with 447 total points

MIAMI (Nov. 18, 2022) – Swimming and Diving finished the Purdue Invitational, Friday night, taking fourth place with 447 total points.
 
Day three saw the Panthers dominate the 200-breast with Christie Chue, Ellie Maradyn and Delaine Goll all finishing in the top 10. FIU was the only program to place three in the top 10 of the race. Chue's second place finish was the highest finish of any Panther at the Purdue Invitational.
 
The Panthers earned two other top 10 finishes on the final day of the Purdue Invitational, including Mia Zahab placing fourth in the 200-fly with a 1:59.92
 
The relay team's hot streak continued as the Panthers took fourth in the 400-free (3:20.06), finishing in the top five in every relay race of the meet.
 
Day three kicked off with the platform dive competition. Maha Gouda, Ruska Lehtonen and Serena Buchwald all qualified and scored points for the Panthers. Gouda led the way with a 235.90, good for fourth overall.
 
Freshman Harliai Curthoys-Davies captured the Panther's first top 10 finish of the day in the 100-free. Her 50.03 was good for 10th and seven points for FIU.
 
The Panthers shined in the 200-free winning a total of 39 points. Chue took second with a 2:09.89. Maradyn finished in fourth with a 2:12.82 and Goll rounded out the top 10 with a 2:15.27.
 
Zahab's fourth place finish in the 200-fly netted the Panthers 15 total points in the final individual race of the meet.
 
UP NEXT
Swim and Dive now turns its focus to the U.S. Open. The competition runs from December 1-3 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
