MIAMI (Dec. 16, 2022) – Swimming and Diving hosted Marshall on Friday afternoon, defeating the Heard 191-108.

The Panthers led wire-to-wire, placing first in 13 of 15 events and including sweeping the dive and relay events.

Freshman
Harliai Curthoys-Davies and senior
Lamija Medosevic finished the day with five first place finishes each with three in individual race and two relay wins.

FIU came out fast taking a commanding 90-59 lead with six first place finishes in the first eight events.

The 200-individual medley relay team of
Kelsie Campbell,
Christie Chue,
Jessica Shpilko and Medosevic kicked things off with a convincing first place finish (1:43.27).

Curthoys-Davies earned two wins in consecutive events, taking the 1000-free (10:24.47) and the 200-free (1:52.66).

In the one-meter dive, graduate student
Maha Gouda posted a 279.15 to finish in first.

Break two saw the Panthers pushed their lead to 165-98.

Four different Panthers earned first place finishes with Medosevic winning the 100-free (51.98), Curthoys-Davies taking the 200-back (2:03.10), Chue wining the 200-breast (2:18.18) and Campbell taking the 100-fly (57.03).

Graduate student
Serena Buchwald won the three-meter dive with a 265.80 for her first first place finish of the season.

FIU closed out the meet with two more wins as Chue took the 400-individual medley (4:26.67) and the 200-free relay team placed first (1:34.78).

The Panthers are back in the pool on Tuesday January 3 when they host the FIU Sprint Invite at the FIU Aquatic Center at the Biscayne Bay Campus.
