MIAMI – The FIU football program added a total of 20 student-athletes on the opening day of the NCAA Early Signing Period on Wednesday, FIU head coach Mike MacIntyre announced.

The Panthers' class includes a total of 15 incoming freshmen and five transfers.

FIU signed a total of nine new players on the offensive side of the ball, including three offensive linemen, three tight ends, two wide receivers and one quarterback.

Defensively, the Panthers inked a total of 11 student-athletes, including six defensive backs, four defensive linemen and one edge/outside linebacker.

The 2023 early signing class includes players from a total of six states, including 15 student-athletes from the state of Florida.

Other states represented include Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut and Tennessee.

FIU HEAD COACH MIKE MACINTYRE QUOTE
"We signed 20 young men today, 15 high school players.  Of the 20 we signed, 15 are from the state of Florida.  Eight of them are from Dade and Broward County.  We said we were going to do that when we first got here.  For transfers, we have some transfer portal then one JUCO transfer.  And then of course, we signed the best name in college football history in Rowdy Beers.  We are excited about this group, and we're excited about what they bring."

I want to thank our coaching staff and our support staff.  They were amazing during this recruiting process. This is our first one though, we have the transfer portal in January and then we have another signing day in February, but this is the bulk of what we'll do for our signing period."

"I have never been anywhere where the athletic director [Scott Carr] came to every single weekend, spent hours, and brought his family. That was a critical factor in this and him just showing the commitment. It's been a lot of hard work and our guys are ready to take a break before they get back going on the first of January."
